Alice De Lancey

Meet Alice De Lancey.   Alice is the 2007-08 President of Cross Trail Squares.  She began square dancing three years ago when she read a Star Ledger article about the activity and realized that an Open House and lessons were only two blocks away from her home in Caldwell.  The following year while she “angeled” the newer dancers, she learned Plus.  She recently has danced in Las Vegas, Orlando, and Australia at both mainstream and plus dances while on business trips to those locations.  When asked what she liked about square dancing, Alice explained: "It's really a great activity for me because I feel totally comfortable as a single dancer. It also fits into my other commitments of raising two teenage daughters as a single mom and working full-time. I can go out as frequently as my schedule permits or take the night off when I have to be in NY the next day for work."  She continued..."I never intended to get so involved or so addicted to the activity. But the wonderful, friendly people I've met, the opportunity to get great exercise and still avoid the gym, and the fun I have at square dances have all led me to getting more involved and making this a lifetime hobby".
