Dan and Betsy Tapper
Meet Dan and Betsy Tapper from Caldwell. Dan is the Secretary of Cross Trail Squares and Betsy is the Raid Chairperson. Back in High School, Betsy did a square dance program in Connecticut with Dave Haas. (pictured left) The interest was always there but kids and careers got in the way. Dan and Betsy began square dancing about four years ago after Betsy saw a listing online advertising a club called Cross Trail Squares right in Caldwell. Dan was a bit reluctant at first but after taking lessons for several weeks said "the bug bit and we have been hooked ever since". Besides here in New Jersey, Dan and Betsy have danced in New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine and California. When asked what they like about square dancing, both said they love the exercise, enjoy keeping their minds sharp and really enjoy the wonderful people they meet. Dan said "It is amazing to walk into a club on Cape Cod not knowing anyone, but leaving feeling like we have spent the evening with good friends!". While Betsy is keeping busy running the Raid Program, Dan has recently gone through the Caller's Council of New Jersey's Caller School. He said it has given him a new appreciation for how hard callers really work. In her free time, Betsy enjoys reading, baking and gardening. Dan is involved in amateur radio and metal detecting. They both enjoy skiing.
